Americans living overseas; How many are in Mexico?

Question by Texicano-AlWassab: Americans living overseas; How many are in Mexico?
Ten years ago, . . .The largest number of Americans outside the United States were living in Mexico. According to American Citizens Abroad, there are more than 1,000,000 Americans living in Mexico (as of 1999). However, this number was disputed. Some estimated put the number as low as 324, 082. There weren’t reliable statistics from either the U.S. or Mexican governments as of 2002, at least.
Some people believe that there are more than 7 million Americans living in Mexico as permanent residents.

Americans living overseas? Do U have problems with your US friends and family?

Question by Dr Why: Americans living overseas? Do U have problems with your US friends and family?
Ever since I moved to Europe, my family thinks I am crazy when I talk about how nice things are there. Anyone else have the same problem?

Best answer:

Answer by Blake
Kind of. I live in China and my family just thinks it’s funny how I haven’t had much of a problem adapting. EVERYTHING is different, yes, but they just think it’s cool. It is hard for people who have lived in the states their whole lives to see the better sides of other nations.

Question by : Questions for Americans living overseas. When you cast your absentee ballot…?
…. are you thinking more of what is good for the USA or what is good for your country of residence?

Does it make a difference if you are holding double citizenship and can vote for high office in the country you live in also?
Anyone who want to vote from abroad should contact: www.votefromabroad.org

I don’t live overseas, I live in MX. I vote for the better of the US. My #1 issue is getting rid of illegals.

With that said it is tempting not to. I would NEVER stop the fight against illegals but if anyone ever actually does anything about them all the Mexicans will come back here and it just happens to be that the population of Mexicans sneaking across the border for govt freebies are the uneducated and unskilled. I dealt with them daily when living in Phx. It’s nice to be around all educated and hard working Mexicans in Mexico. Completely and totally different world here.

ETA: Would you please pick Sally for Best Answer so she will see this?

Sally, you can vote on line and via fax. I do and I live in MX. You just go on line and request on line voting. They send you a form to sign and you can mail or fax it in. Then come election time they email you your ballot, you print it out, print out forms, sign them, and fax it back. Voting is the same as mailing it in but it gets there that day.

Why didn’t Americans protest like the French are doing when the government raised our retirement age?

-

Question by oldbutnotusedup: Why didn’t Americans protest like the French are doing when the government raised our retirement age?
We pay into social security all those years and right before most of the baby boomers start to draw, they increase the age limit. It should be our choice if we can afford to retire, or if we need or want to continue to work. No penalties!! It is not our fault government has not spent our social security money wisely. And, what kind of retirement/insurance packages have our Congressmen and Senators voted in for themselves. If they are elected officials, and they are not doing what we want, I say LET’S VOTE THEM OUT, AMERICA!

The Greeks and French know how to pitch a fit, don’t they? They’ve been telling us since the 70′s that they were going to raise the age to collect social security benefits.
