If your going to Europe you would need a work visa which without special, needed skills…forget it. As Europe is now basically a Euro Nation people from each country can go and work in the other Euro countries without a visa.
If you are over 18 (preferably over 21) have skills or degree you could try the Amer. Military bases in various countries. Go to the personnel depts.
But it’s difficult as most of the civilian jobs are taken by dependents of the soldiers.
You can check the government jobs and look for overseas jobs that are UA.
Europe is very expensive now, except for a couple of countries not in the Union.
No job then take at least enough money for travel, food, hostels, etc. Minimum around 0 to 200 a day. Make friends quick you might get by on /100 a day and don’t drink or party much.
Less if you do with food every now and then and can “crash” with friends that you make.
Good luck

Do you know anything about railroad retirement and insurance?

-

Question by happydawg: Do you know anything about railroad retirement and insurance?
I have been in a relationship with a railroader who seems financially bogged down by his ex and their 2 kids. He plans to retire in 5 yrs and says he will be set financially with railroad retirement. He hasnt really saved anything for his retirement and I am afraid his ex wife will come in to claim a share of the benefits.
I am 12 yrs younger than he and I dont want to marry him if its going to ruin me financially. I guess what I am saying is I do not want to support a man who made bad financial decisions and is dependent on me to pay his medical bills and support him because his ex wife has 1/2 his retirement and still has her finger in the pie so to speak. He says she is not entitled to retirement from him because she has re married.
He has health problems. Does the railroad continue to insure him or will he have to purchase his own insurance after retirement. We dont talk about it because he plays stupid and acts like he doesnt know the answers. Any helpful suggestions?

He might not really know the answer. Railroad retirement and health insurance are known for avoiding giving straight answers, and for screwing over the railroaders at every chance they get. Even if he has asked the right questions, they don’t give straight answers, or pass the buck until you are playing telephone leap frog with people from both agencies, and eventually give up.

Question by Don R: What do you think about a state attorney general that caught “Cockfighters” days before retirement.I
Al Smultzer was attorney general in Cocke County for decades and just before retiring he “Busted cock fighters” that had been cockfighting for enough years to retire themselves. It was known where the fights took place. They had been there for decades at the same place. How did such a dedicated public servant not know when EVERYONE ELSE KNEW. The DA was not a “Rocket scientist” but Come on. Decades out in the open? Iknow – he wants to be governor of Tennessee?

I am 24 years from retirement but can’t wait. However, most of my senior colleagues feel quite stressed about it. Many of them have worked so long that they don’t know what else to do. My father worked 3 years past mandatory retirement age because he couldn’t bear the thought of not working. He has found that there are a million things to occupy your time with and has long since learned to enjoy it.

I am saving to be able to serve missions with my wife, when we retire. Start planning, 100 days is sufficient to get some great ideas going! Good luck.
